Information about our overhaul policy
General #
Fiat van der Laan offers a wide range of overhauled parts. In order to continue offering these parts in the future, we would like to take back your old parts. You may or may not pay a deposit, depending on the type of part. Below is more information about how our policy works.
Among other things, we offer the following overhauled parts for the Fiat 500 and Fiat 126:
- Steering boxes
- Starter motors
- Generators and Alternators
- Steering knuckles
- Ignitions (Distributors)
- Gearboxes
- Carburettors
- Cylinder heads
- Speedometers
Methods #
We use the following methods to get the old parts back:
- Return before shipping. We send the part after the old part is received at Fiat van der Laan
- Deposit for “cheap” products
- Deposit for “expensive” products
The method depends on the type of part. Whether it is an expensive or relatively inexpensive part and whether it is a scarce or non-scarce part.
A. Return before shipping #
Some parts are scarce. We want to make sure that these parts are returned to us so that we can overhaul them. Two problems could arise if we were to work with a deposit system. The first problem is that we would receive a different type of product in return. The second problem is that we would no longer be able to overhaul the returned part. We therefore do not work with a deposit system for these scarce products. We first wait until we have received the old part. We can then check it and, if approved, send the overhauled part.
Important!
We will only send the overhauled part if we have received a part of exactly the same type. For example: we will not send a 126CB cylinder head if we have received a 126BB. Please note: we will not send anything! We will contact you.

- Generators for Fiat 500 Giardiniera
- Distributor for Fiat 500 Giardiniera
- Carburettors for Fiat 500 Giardiniera
- Steering Knuckles for Fiat 500N and Fiat 500D

B. Deposit for “cheap” products #
This deposit is at the moment €150,- (including 21% VAT). When order such type of product, you will see an extra product in the shopping basket (SKU: FVDL0001).
Products in this category are those that do not belong to category A or category C.
C. Deposit for “expensive” products #
This deposit is at the moment €400,- (including 21% VAT). When order such type of product, you will see an extra product in the shopping basket (SKU: FVDL0003).
Products using this method are: gearboxes
Return parts #
The shipping cost for the return is not included in any price and is for the customer.
When we receive the old part back, you will receive a credit for the deposit you have paid or we will ship the overhauled part. All parts must be whole, not cracked or broken and the returned part must be complete. If that’s the case, you will receive the full amount back if you paid a deposit. If this is not the case, we can decide to credit less (up to zero) or don’t ship the overhauled part. Please help us to sustain this product lifecycle.
You can return the old parts to us via normal courier services such as DHL, DPD, UPS, PostNL, etc. or via Mondial Relay. Please do not send packages via a normal courier service to our Mondial Relay pick-up point.

Purchase of used parts #
We are always looking for parts that are suitable for refurbishment. Think of the items mentioned above. We offer compensation for these parts, but don’t expect top dollar. Unfortunately, we regularly purchase products that are no longer suitable for refurbishment. Send us an email or WhatsApp message with photos of the products. Help us maintain the continuity of overhauled parts.
