Characteristic "tube" bumper, new Fiat logo on a red background and chrome edge, license plate moved to the lower part of the bumper (the L is the only series to have the license plate in that position, it would have been covered by the bumper).

New dashboard with black plastic dashboard, Fiat 850 type instrument (with scale at 130 km/h), petrol level indicator, new squarer ashtray, black two-spoke steering wheel, closer switches, storage in the lower part after the gear lever , plastic card pocket with rubber edge.

Seats and door panels with fake vertical "texture" stitching (they are heat-stamped, except for the rear panels which are made of plastic), reclining seats, folding rear backrest.

Chrome license plate light holder in low position also on the L: only from 1970 it became higher, "tube" bumper also at the rear, new "diamond" writing Fiat 500L.

New chromed metal window handles (in the 1st and 2nd series) from the 3rd series in black plastic type 126. The chromed ring (door opener) only in the 1st series. Abolition of the door closer handles "replaced" by black pockets in the lower part of the 2 doors.

### Other details:

- Horn button in the center of the steering wheel, with new Fiat logo on a red background
- Front door panels in vinyl leather with fake vertical stitching (like seats), rear panels with the same design but in rigid plastic material
- New carpet floor covering and no longer rubber
- With the introduction of the tubes bumper length increased by 2970 mm at 3025 mm
- Added chrome plastic trim to the front and rear windshield surrounds
- Added chrome plastic moldings to drip rails
- Radial casing tires as standard and no longer with "4-ply" (textile) tires
- Black roof frame, black padded sun visors
- Coil on the right (like the F '68 onwards), brake fluid reservoir turned by 90° with oblique final part
- **From 1970:**
- Moving the chromed license plate light holder upwards, on request steering lock with built-in ignition switch (and consequent chromed cap in place of the key switch in the center of the dashboard)
- **From 1971:**
- The 500L was also produced by Autobianchi (chassis numbers starting with "6") and by Sicilfiat (chassis numbers starting with "5")
