Jan de Bouvrie
My name is Piet, 55 years old and crazy about Fiat 500 for some time. But not so exuberant in a club context. Is my own little thing I enjoy myself. It started quite a while ago, when I was walking at a fair in Houten at the age of 19. That was a fair with Italian cars. There was a black Fiat 500 there and it had been designed by Jan de Bouvrie (the upholstery). That has always stayed with me.
Like a Pro
In 2017, I had the space and opportunity to do something with it. Then I looked up a 500 and started the adventure. From my work all the experience to do this and took all the time to do a professional restoration. This was also necessary considering what I came across when dismantling the sheet metal. Everything that was needed was renewed and here slowly a beautiful bodywork emerged again. I became increasingly happy with that too. I did everything myself on this restoration bodywork, engine, gearbox, paintwork, etcetera including the interior. So now there is actually a new Fiat 500 in the garage since 5 May 2022. This date was the MOT inspection and was therefore the culmination of my work.
Simple car
Looking at it makes you happy. The design that was once created that many people still enjoy looking at on the road during a drive. Also the simple engineering how the little car was once made and of course tinkering with this.
Driving it in nice weather with the hood down. Nice on a Sunday morning.
Tea
I bought all parts at Fiat van der Laan, of course! Good service, a chat and a cup of tea when there was time. Very nice supplier.
