Wedding planner
My name is Lotte (42) and I’m living in Breda. I’m a wedding planner and organize weddings in the Netherlands and Italy. For six years I own a white 1973 Fiat 500R, which I rent out to couples in the region. We got the Fiat from a friend who unfortunately could no longer park the car at his new home in the centre of Rotterdam. Initially, his idea was to let my friend in particular use the car, who works as an actor. In the end, my friend never used it, but I was the one who took it under his wing 😊. At the time, I launched my business as a wedding planner and of course an Italian wedding car was a perfect fit for that! The car was in excellent condition at the time. So we didn’t need to do anything to it ourselves at the moment. We did have it thoroughly inspected once and, of course, it has always been serviced in recent years. A big advantage about this car is it has no longer a double clutch gearbox, which makes it easier to drive (also for my brides and grooms).
Smallest car in the street
I love this car much because of the fun reactions the Fiat evokes! People pointing, laughing, waving, etc, great! In addition, I often take the Fiat to weddings and there is often a cheerful atmosphere there anyway. I also still get a smile on my face when I drive down our street and the Fiat is parked between all these big, modern cars. Then it really is such a cute little car to see among all those big boys! I always get nice reactions when filling up my car too.
A little bit of help
Unfortunately I am not very technically literate myself, so I regularly get help from some club colleagues, which is great! Recently, the Fiat got new tyres and a new battery, but again I got help. I buy the parts a Fiat van der Laan. Fast and good service, so very satisfied!
Hiding for the photographer
A wedding couple had hired the Fiat for their wedding in Breda city centre. They themselves came from another city, so they didn’t know their way around. When I came to deliver the car, they were in a bit of a hurry and when I asked if the knew how to drive, they said, ‘Um, no. Will you drive with us?’ And so I crammed myself into the back seat to show them the way. When we arrived at the wedding venue, I ducked down behind the seats so that the guests and photographer would only see the bride and groom. And they succeeded! 😊
